An eigth-grader in the Detroit area took his own life with .40-caliber handgun before classes started. The boy, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, was found dead by another student in the school’s bathroom shortly after 8 a.m., reports NY Daily News.
The student was taken to a local hosital where he was pronounced dead. The boy’s age hasn’t been revealed. Southgate Community School District Superintendent Bill Grusecki pointed out at a news conference that the suicide was “an isolated incident with just that student.”
The boy was fairly popular at the school, it has been reported, but he was depressed and had already talked about his intention to commit suicide. Apparently, he was being bullied at school and his parents were going through a divorce. The school was locked down for a while before parents were told to pick up their children.
